Welcome to details about our 2025/26 Speaker programme.
We use a number of different venues so always check the details. Our usual talks are held at the renovated Chapel in Wisbech General Cemetery. However, for speaker events where we expect a large turnout we have started using Wisbech Rugby club. We also have the occasional meeting at the Secret Garden, so…..always check the detail on the poster and always book. Speakers are being booked all the time so if one month doesn’t have a speaker, then they haven’t yet been booked. We don’t have a speaker in December, and it’s our AGM in April. The speaker season starts in September and the last talk is usually in March.

Neolithic Orkney – a personal journey through the extraordinary
Orkney is a very special place and like everywhere, has seen lots of changes. The impact of cruise liners and the increase of tourists has seen many of the Neolithic sites become so popular, that erosion is becoming a real issue. Bob has been visiting the sites for 35 years on an annual basis and will discuss what they represent and how it is still possible to enjoy the extraordinary richness of this jewel in the UK’s neolithic crown
Bob Smith holds various postgraduate qualifications including an M. Litt from the University of the Highlands and Islands. He studied there for 2 years focusing on the history of the Highlands and Islands and the neolithic archaeology of Orkney. He is a life member of the Orkney Archaeological Society.
