The digging part of our excavations at Little Ranch Leisure have come to an end. Over this Saturday and the Sunday nearly 20 members visited and mucked in, most being there both days. If you add to these members of Mike’s family and friends, Campers and fisherman from the site and some visiting children, I think it fair to say it was a huge success.
As you can see from the photo, the trench had become waterlogged and muddy overnight but we were able to mop it out and continue to find interesting Archaeology. Interim report to follow soon.
I am not sure how to express our thanks to Mike and his family without making him blush but the friendliness, support, and knowledge they all brought to the event was priceless, as was Mike’s skill with a JCB that meant the back breaking work of opening and closing a large trench was absent which is why we were able to get straight down to the archaeology.
